Australia’s first ever Book Expo

Just in case you missed it, Australia is set to have its first ever book expo. http://www.bookexpoaustralia.com/

It will be on in Sydney, August 30th and 31st, 2014 at Exhibition Hall 5, Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park, NSW 2127

There will be 280 exhibitions stands of authors, publishers and industry connected groups and businesses.  Included in the expo will be,

  • Books signings from many of your favourite authors
  • Q&A styled panels
  • A group of Aussie authors talking about action books
  • Costume play events
  • The world’s largest atlas on display (if they can raise the funds) http://www.bookexpoaustralia.com/support-donate/
  • Groups performing medieval combat, swordplay and martial arts
  • An industry get together (closed event on Friday 29th)
  • Poetry readings and discussions about poetry for children
  • A Guinness Book of Records attempt at the longest Paper Doll chain
  • Freebies, drinks, food and reading areas

This expo is set to become an annual event travelling around Australia. It is aimed at the reader, so there will be books and authors from all genres, fiction and non-fiction, comics, audio books, ebooks and more. On show will be modern technologies and for those with impaired eyesight, and you’ll find new ways to enjoy books. If you want to read faster, there will be something for you.

The entry cost is very small, only $7.50 for adults, $5.00  for children (YA) over 12 to 18 and for teachers and librarians.
